How Much Do Flight Compensation Companies Charge?
The price lists and general terms and conditions (GTCs) of flight compensation companies are often difficult to understand. There are price ranges where a case can generate low or high costs, as well as service and court fees. We reviewed the GTCs and pricing models of several providers to offer more clarity.
To ensure transparency, we submitted claim forms through each flight compensation company’s website and recorded their service fees, court fees, and estimated final payouts using a third-party service. The companies are ranked solely based on these financial findings.
This comparison focuses exclusively on fees and payout amounts, without evaluating service quality or claim success rates. There are two different fees, a service fee which applies for all cases and a court fee which only applies for cases which have to be presented to the court. Some flight compensation companies charge an additional court fee in addition to the standard service fee if court proceedings are necessary. Not all cases have to be presented in court. Many cases can be solved out of court, and for those cases settled out of court no court fee will apply.
In our test, both fees (service and court fees) were calculated. This is because travellers do not know in advance whether court involvement will be required. However, many claims are resolved without court involvement, in which case the court fee (also known as a legal action fee) is typically not charged.

ClaimFlights charges a commission of 25% of the EU 261 compensation. VAT may apply to EU passengers. There are no additional charges; this fee covers all services, including legal representation if court proceedings are required.

If court proceedings are required, an additional court fee of 14% may apply. Based on the higher fee range, i.e. 30%, the total deduction can reach up to 49.7%.
